PRODUCTION Toulouse Geese Thread!!

Maybe it´ll settle down now until the proper breeding season.
As of this a.m. our weather is now back to normal Fall temps. High today in the mid to upper 70's. It will be interesting to see if Sting continues to mate with the girls or if their systems kick back in and they shift back to normal. I know weather supposedly plays a lesser roll in breeding instincts than does ambient lighting but I think that is what got everyone going. I know yesterday my Khaki Campbell and Blue Swedish drakes were going at it trying to establish dominance to the point I had to isolate the Swedish. I will put him back in with the others this a.m. and hope things have calmed down with them as well. My Cayugas hit 20 weeks old yesterday and there is a lot of head bobbing going on with them also.

Life on the farm is certainly never dull.

No it's not.. Finally my drakes can all be in the same area together. amazing to me and what a relief, they finally calm down just in time for Sammy to start up with being so protective. Grr probably had to hold him down to the ground at least once a day last week.

You should see the feathers in their pin...!!
If those were Kiwi's feathers laying there that would be one naked goose.

Blue Swedish and Khaki Campbell seem to be doing o.k. this a.m. Swedish has not shut up since I put them all back together. Probably going on about his adventure all alone in the dark with the critters sniffing at his door. Sting, Lydia and Pauline are more and more obsessed with the Cayugas. The Cayugas get out into the big field to eat grasshoppers before the geese get to go out and Sting is certain that are taking from him. So, when the Cayugas are put back in their run/range and the geese are let out they go straight to the fence between the field and the Cayugas and just honk and carry on instead of chowing down on some great grass we planted for them. Silly goose!!!

So now that Pear has a boyfriend she doesn't like me anymore! Maybe not that she doesn't like me but she refuses to walk into arms reach now and backs up when I get into the pin, she used to try to trip me! :(
