I raise LF Silver Appenzeller Spitzhaubens and Bantams Silver Spangled Hamburgs. Back when my Spitz hen was waiting for a mate, I had her with my Hamburgs (they "matched" nicely

).
Well, the Spitz. has her mate now, but I have a chick from her stay with the Hamburgs.
Once I really thought about it, I decided this cross would be the perfect start for a Bantam Silver Spitzhauben in the U.S.
Any input?

Thanks,
Grace

Please post a pic of her and close up of her comb. It would be SO neat to see her! Too bad you didn't have very many chicks to use for your bantam Spitzhauben project.

Thank you for the comments

Here are some pictures of it's head. There are pictures I already had, but it's crest is more defined now, and I will try to get some more recent pictures today.

It's a start !

The coloring is very nice. Looks like the Hamburg spangles are cleaning up the Spitz' ones. So many of their spots seem to run together or are weird shaped. (I have some beautiful heart shaped spangles on one of my Spizt hens.)

With the next generation, you will be closer to getting to your goal of creating bantam Spitz. If you lose that tuff on her head, then probably breeding her daughters back to a Spitz roo probably would help.

She is beautiful!!!! Elegant like the Hamburgs too!
