Hi everyone, all help appreciated.
My chook lotto has been laying for a week now eggs with no or almost no shell. I've started vitamins and extra oystershell. Today she is really not herself and when I examined her she has a prolapse. I have returned what was outside back inside and subsequently she laid another almost shell less egg.
Any advice very gratefully accepted.
I have no access to veterinary help

It is not uncommon for a brand new layer to have shell-less eggs, but they can be hard to pass, evn becoming egg bound, and a prolapsed cloaca can result. If her cloaca comes out again, keep it moist with honey or oil so that it never dries out. It can come out with passing droppings or eggs. If you have human calcium or Tums, give 1/2 tablet orally and a little cooked egg yolk. Offer water. Hopefully, this will improve.
