Prolapse and vent gleet

She passed away. I feed my flock Purina Layena with free choice ouster shell and they always have access to lots of fresh water. This sweet girl was bottom of the pecking order and often stayed at a distance from the flock. Her only real friend was a rooster that we had to rehome since we are not allowed to have them. This was her first egg and it was not shaped normal. I'm pretty sure that's what the problem was. I wish I could have done more to help her. Thank you for all the help.

As I said before this is *way* out of my comfort zone and I have very little experience with these.

The other day I found an egg bound hen that could hardly stand. I brought her in gave her fluids, calcium by injection, meloxicam, and placed her on a heating pad in a dark, steamy room. The next day she had not passed the egg and was deteriorating, so I decided to try the needle aspiration, and you are correct, because even with a 14 gauge needle it was very hard to suck the egg out.

Let me be clear, I am not suggesting doing this unless there is no hope. I have more details if anyone is interested.
I am interested in hearing more details
