Prolapse. Please help

One of my bantam Ameracuna hens prolapsed last year. I kept her in the garage in a medium size cat carrier with food and water. It took 3 try's to get the prolapse to stay in but she is doing well. I used the same method you are using. The 3 try's mostly had to do with her laying an egg after I had gotten it to stay in.

Her vent looks better today, less swelling. Hopefully she will continue to get better.

Tonight 3/14/15. Looks better. Still applying honey and keeping her indoors. She hasn't laid any eggs. How much longer should I keep her indoors?

Im having this same issue but the prolapse wont stay in cuz when she poops it pops back out this is day 3 of pushing it back in several times a day along with soaking in Epson and useing preparation h and honey is there anything else i should be doning?

You may want to reduce the protein in her food a little, and place her in a dark room or covered cage overnight for 16 hours daily, to help her stop laying temporarily for her vent to heal. It may be normal for the prolapse to come out for a few days, so keep pushing it back in. Can you post a picture of what her vent looks like? Does the tissue look pink and healthy? Read some of the earlier posts in this thread for links about prolapsed vents.

This was today after i was able to get it back in but has since pushed it back out this is day 4.

It can be frustrating to treat a prolapse. Wishing you good luck with her. Some vets will put in a purse-string suture or a couple of stitches to hold it in temporarily.
