Prolapsed Penis Discussion

There was a Study done by Dr. Patricia Brennan on how ducks penises shrivel up after mating season and how they grow larger once mating season begins. She found in some flocks that the alpha duck will grow his penis larger than the rest. She theorized that female ducks vaginas have evolved to create "dead ends" so that they wouldn't be fertilized by unwanted males. She believes that that's why male ducks evolved to start growing larger penises. So they could get in further to fertilize the eggs.
If the male ducks are able to "regrow" their penises every year, and some even grow larger, then why wouldn't they be able to grow larger once some has been snipped off?

Ya, I've seen this before. It does appear evidence suggests that they can "shrink" and "grow"
But a year or so ago it was going around byc a lot that drakes penisis just fell off every year and they grew a new one. THAT is the part I do not believe.

My Runner drake mates his females year round. I haven’t seen his laying out on the ground but I doubt it would last long anyway.
When I had my drakes they mated year round too. I kept thinking that there was a "season" but apparently not in my yard there wasn't! It will be interesting to see what my new little drake does. I think he's thinking about it. He's got a favorite girl, Dilly, that he follows around everywhere.

I'm with you on that completely.
I actually had a pretty good laugh of someones response to this on reddit.

Not meaning to compare human to duck, but my thinking is that it must be similar to humans in a way that they “enlarge” and then relax to retract.

Wonder if they prolapse and get stuck outside the body if they aren’t able to complete the act? If a duck knocks the drake off and doesn’t let him “finish”, maybe it takes longer to get back to the relaxed state?

Good question! I will keep researching and see what I find.

While researching, can you keep an eye open for prolapse treatment treatments techniques?
I can, but I'm more concerned with their ability to heal and stay fertile.

I emailed Dr. Patricia Brennan. I asked her some of the questions here and provided her a link to this thread.
We will see if I get a response, lol.

I would also like to collect a bunch of posts and links about what treatments work and what do not work. In my eyes, the goal of this thread is to come up with treatment plan for those with a prolapsed duck.

I get that, but wouldn't you also want to know what happens after they heal? If they will still be furtile? Will they have future problems? I think this is great thread for information on prolapse penis. I am happy to contribute what I find, I'm just letting you know where my focus is.
