Yes, I do know what you're talking about and I have an email containing all of your deleted posts. You were advising someone to use Vaseline, which I don't agree with *and* it didn't work for you. Sorry you get frustrated with my questions, but I cannot sit here and say nothing when I think bad advice or incorrect information is being handed out. FYI, you aren't the only one that I question, I question lots of people.

I deleted because you come across as mean a lot of times. I definitely try to answer questions to the best of my knowledge and what has worked for me. Your not a Vet and the Vaseline did work for Casanova. He still produced Ducklings without getting infection. I'm trying to be nice and if you can't then block me....

Anyway, about the Vaseline, what I mean is that you tried for five days to get it to go back in. It did not go back in, so you cut him loose and let nature take it's course. Sometime later the tip dies and you had your friend cut it off for you. I'm sorry, but that is not a success story.

You are always telling people that you are to the point, blunt, or whatever, I am just being the same, so please try to see that I am not picking on you, I just have a different idea of what a successful treatment is. Successful to me means healed and no amputation in less than two weeks, not amputation. Amputation = Fail. Death = fail.

You got lucky because a prolapse can get very infected and can cause death just do some searching here one BYC and you'll find a few that found this to be true.

So in closing, I found you advice to be not in line with what I would do and I though it could be life threatening.

Seriously it wasn't like amputation at all..A Drakes penis is basically just cartilage without much too it. ..The end died and snipped it off. Simple actually.

You're missing the point I think. You are basing your advice on the one prolapse that you treated. You treated with Vaseline for some number of days, it did not go back in so you cut him loose and dealt with it two months later. Only the tip died, he lived, and he can still breed. Do you really want to claim that as a valid treatment plan? What are you gonna say to someone when their duck dies from sepsis from using you method?

How is a duck that is still alive (whether he is fertile or not) a fail? Wouldn't the fact that he is still alive be a good thing. I've seen alot of people who had to get their ducks penis snipped. I even saw an episode on Dr. Dee Alaska vet do it.

I understand that. I just don't understand how you can say a live duck is a fail. That's what I'm confused about. I said nothing about it getting septic. I understand the danger of that.
All I asked was how a duck, who is alive and healthy, is considered a fail just because he had to get his penis trimmed so it would go back inside.

I only spoke of my Drakes situation. Not all situations are the same. Do you understand that?
