Found Chu bird this morning with a prolapsed vent. I have read many threads on here, and have tried a lot of things. Doing epsom salt soaks, using antibiotic ointment, hemorroid cream, iodine and keep trying to push the prolapse back in an hold it there. She pushes it out the entire time no matter what technique I try. She is often standing and pushing on her own. Around 5pm a very soft shelled egg came out when she was in the bath and I wasn't even pushing. Keep in mind this is around I think a 10 year old chicken who has not laid a single egg in the past couple years.

She had some seeds in her pouch this morning and has access to food and electrolyte water. I'm not sure that she has consumed anymore food since this has happened. She is being kept away from the other chickens, in the dark, inside.

Please, anymore advice you guys could send my way or something else I can try. She is so sad with her head down.

It may be nighttime where you live, but have you tried giving some human calcium with vitamin D yet, to help muscle contraction? Her prolapse looks like she has an egg stuck inside. When she laid the soft egg, did it go down some? There could be a second egg behind it. I don’t have more suggestions than what you are doing, except I would skip the iodine. Honey or sugar with a few drops of water made into a paste can be applied to the vent to help reduce swelling.

Yes I have given her both calcium and vitamin D. Electrolytes in her water. (Which she is drinking a good amount but not eating very much of what I offer her.) It didn't go down at all after she laid the egg. I was shocked that it was something I had to worry about at all due to her not laying in years. But the shape of the prolapse also makes me think there could be another egg. Although when I try to push the prolapse back in, it deflates some.
May I ask why I shouldn't use the iodine? I figured its something I can keep her clean with throughout the day in-between baths so she doesn't have to get wet and dried so many times. She is still pooping.

Also I am going to try the honey! I was using the hemorrhoid ointment.
Thank you for replying and sharing advice! She is in good spirits still.
