Prolapsed vent help

Ok last update for the day. The prolapse still isn’t staying all the way in, but it’s now about half the size of what it was originally. Ive been spraying Vetericyn on it a couple of times a day to keep it moist and prevent infection. She’s got water with probiotics and electrolytes that she has been drinking, and I made a mash of her feed and she ate a bunch of it out of my hand when I showed it to her. It seems like she was feeling better today than she has in a couple of days. I’m feeling a little more optimistic now too.

Still haven’t been able to keep it in. The prolapse has one area that’s bleeding quite a bit now. She had very little interest in food and water today, and has not moved very much. I’m wondering at this point if it would be kinder to keep trying or to end her suffering.

Vet is not an option? Maybe with just a few stitches the problem solves..
I know it seems scary but they are tough, they can survive a prolapse.
Give her a few drops of vitamin B complex supplement and a bit brewers yeast in her food. It helps with both her appetite and the bleeding.

Vet is not an option. I live in a very rural area, over an hour outside of town where the nearest livestock vet is, and we can’t afford it. Unfortunately I also don’t have either of those things on hand, and with living so far from everything it’s not an easy trip to just go out and buy it.

I’m so sorry
I wish I could help
I hope for her speedy recovery! Keep us updated please

You've been very brave and tried so hard to help your hen. Whatever you decide to do, you will have our support. We all understand that sometimes, in spite of our best efforts, recovery is just not possible. Peace to you.

She ended up taking the decision out of our hands. She died on her own in her sleep. I’m sad to lose her but I’m glad that she doesn’t have to suffer anymore.
