Prolapsed vent?

This little chick is 1.5 weeks old. This morning I noticed her bum was caked with poo. I wiped it with a warm paper towel and noticed her vent all swollen. After work (about 7 hrs later) she was caked again. This time I washed her bum off in warm water and wrapped her in a towel. My question is, if it is prolapsed vent how do I help it. Will she be ok?

It's not prolapse ...that's caused from laying eggs....it's pasty butt, and you need to continue what you are doing...it should be just about over....usually a few days and it clears up. Sounds like they were shipped chicks...it's caused from stress usually.....continue what you are doing and she should be fine.

Forgot to mention that your brooder might be to warm also....should only be less than 90 degrees now and 85 would be ok.
