Thank you for all your responses! I only paid $3 per chick, so I had a feeling they were EE’s, but they were just too cute to pass up.
Plus, the possibility of blue eggs... and it was an irresistible temptation.

The price is a big hint, yes. They're EEs and before you blame the feedstore, you should know that hatcheries commonly call their EEs "Ameraucanas" so they were likely misrepresented by the supplier. It doesn't make them any less adorable. It's great fun to see how they turn out since there is a huge genetic pool and as similar as they look now, they're likely to look quite different as adults.

if they are araucana they are beautiful. i was told by a breeder that if the chick has slight yellow on the feathers it a male and if greyish female. if true you have one male and female. keep an eye on them and let me know if this is a true fact.

I can tell you that it isn't true. Down shades are related to adult coloring but unless they are breeding sexlinks, there is no correlation between down color and gender.

I bought them even knowing they were most likely EE’s, so I’m still quite content with them. Plus - who could NOT love that adorableness??
I’m rather excited/curious to see how these babies turn out! I’ll most likely post here with pictures when they get older.

yes i would agree with you and have done a lot of research and everyone says the same. not sure why he would say that, but if mine hatch i will still put a ring on the ones that look like they might be male. also i will send him photos and see what he says.

You might still get your blue eggs, or pink, green, kinda purple, gray who even knows?! That's the awesome thing about EE hens, you just don't know.
