Proper way to say Marans?

Uccle is a city in Belgium and d'Uccle means "of/from Uccle"... so Belgian, not French.

Ah, I knew they spoke English, Dutch and German from my visit there, I didn't know they also speak French, though it makes sense geographically.

I pronounce it MARE-uhns, but where I moved to in the pacific northwest they insist its pronounced morons, even though there's no o in the word. They are very insistent about that pronunciation too.

Well if you look up how to pronounce the city of Uccle, it's 'oo-cl'

I guess what I want to know is --do Americans pronounce the name of the chicken properly, or is there an americanized version....I've been calling her a millie just to avoid the whole question...
