Probably not, anyone who can't read french would just put their own idea into it. I looked up the pronunciation when I got mine, because I wasn't sure it was even french (it is, it's not flemish). I'd just say it how you like and don't burst out laughing if somebody else comes out with something weird and wonderful. (that video is correct, you just stick the d sound in front)I guess what I want to know is --do Americans pronounce the name of the chicken properly, or is there an americanized version....I've been calling her a millie just to avoid the whole question...
As for marans, in french it's sort of mah-roh, but I've also got one of those and I just say it like mar-in, I don't turn into inspector clouseau.
