My 15 straight run white Chanteclers are coming from Cackle Hatchery the end of February. I asked if I could add more chicks like other hatcheries let you do but they said no. 😟 They said i would have to cancel my order and then put in a new order. I didn't want to lose my place for shipping so i decided i didn't need the Welsummers that bad.

Totally understand the disappointment! I needed to adjust my order placed in December but couldn't. So I booked a new order without the Easter Eggers that we wanted but with more Blue Americaunas and Blue Laced Red Wyandottes in blue for delivery two weeks later. Then cancelled the first order... which went immediately back into availability so I snapped it up and cancelled the second order within an hour of placing it. Just throwing money at cancellation fees like a fool to get the chicks I want this year. Hubby says at least this hobby is cheaper than gambling 🤣

One thing I would like to point out is at Murray McMurray, they will let you add to your order without canceling it. We were undecided on a Salmon Faverolle (my aunt has muddy clay soil), so placed the order without it, and then I talked her into the SF anyway 😂, so we called to add one on no problem. I promised her if it is more than lightly feathered, I’ll take that one when we split them. Lol

Just a thought for next year if you think you might want to add on to an order. 😊

If she likes feathered feet but not too feathered she might like a Langshan or a Marans.

Thanks! We have a cuckoo in our order and may add a BCM or Wheaton from the local guy when we pick up our small order if he has any leftover from the hatch. I’ll have to check out Langshan, are they cold-hardy?

I'm don't know.

Cold-hardy isn't a factor I normally have to think about. :D

I ordered their small town pullet lot (or something like that it was advertised as 3 pullets of your choice). They sent 6, one extra of each breed. Out of the 6, one of the Buff Orpington's was a cockerel. Both of the Wyandotte's had a toe issue, but nothing that caused any problems. Both of the Barred Rock pullets were nice and had clear markings from hatch. Like mentioned before, they were a little pricey but I was unable to find such a small order available elsewhere. If I just received what I ordered, they would have been $20 per chick total. In all honesty, I'm not sure what, if any vaccines I added. Even knowing that, I'd order from them again if I needed to. I called in to speak with someone there twice after receiving my order and they were very helpful in addressing my concerns within a very short time frame.
