Protective Turkey Hens

I was walking back to the house after letting my birds out to free range for the day, when my bird brained rooster decided that he was going to come after me and flog me. Darn it I just fed him, Grrrrr! He had his hackles raised, head down and was just starting to make a run at me when one of my BR turkey hens stepped in between us and went after him. When she stepped up, all of the other turkey hens joined in. They chased that roo around the house, tree, bushes, and into the woods and every time they caught him, they pecked with feathers flying. Extra treats for all those girls and a stew pot for that roo. I only wish I had my camera with me.

LOL, Yep, I have a turkey hen named Mrs. Blueberry. If any chicken trys to have a go at me, she attacks them, chases them till they are out of site, all the while feathers are flying and that roo is huffing and puffing... Then she comes back to me, sits at my feet and purrs until I pet her and hug her , telling her what a good turkey girl she is.

Aww Mrs. Blueberry is so pretty! For a turkey anyways LOL! I have two BBB turkey girls who like to be petted as well. We were gonna have them for T-giving but they are so sweet we changed our minds. They recently started laying eggs.

DH had some 'turkey calls' that he downloaded onto his phone and since our one male got killed by a predator, the females have been *lonesome* so dh starts playing his phone turkey calls and the hens come over to him making thier calls and some wierd noise I haven't heard before. One went for a Blue Marans Rooster that was sitting next to dh and started squatting next to him and making the wierd noises, and I think, trying to get him to mate her.
This poor rooster was standing there like "what the heck?" looking at her like she was some kinda freak lol. Now every time she sees him she goes over to him and he runs away LOL! She likes the blue boys. I am thinking of finding them a blue slate tom haha.

I will get a male soon as I get my 6 house breeding coops done, then I have to start a turkey coop/run. The two hens right now, are bunking with some chickens lol.
I wanna make sure i have a good pen for the two females and male when I get him, because I still am not entirely sure what happened to the other male. He was perfectly healthy and happy and quite large. I found him dead with no marks on him but looked as if his neck was broken but no teeth marks etc...so I don't know if he jumped and hurt himself (he could not fly..too fat but walked and ran good) he was on the ground near a boat parked in our yard when I found him or if some predator did it or chased him into the boat etc.
