Insects contain high protein and fat whereas former foodstuffs contain high energy in the form of carbohydrates and fats. Both should therefore be considered as promising alternative feed ingredients for livestock production...FFPs (former food products) are considered as ‘a fortified version of cereals’ as they are extremely rich in carbohydrates, and depending on their origin, also in fats. As a consequence, former foodstuffs still have a high nutritional value for animal feed because they often contain a lot of energy."
