Puffed up 2 week old chick

I'm glad it resolved on its own. I don't want to be too pedantic but I thought I would add two comments to the thread.

Entering teacher mode.

First, if you do need to intervene the needle that was specified is a sterile hypodermic needle, not something from your sewing kit. You don't just want to make a hole in the skin, you want to give the excess air an escape route. Fairly obvious if you've done it, but not alway clear to someone new to the problem.

Second, your chick didn't reabsorb the excess air. What probably happened was that the ruptured air sac healed and the excess air bled off through the skin. It escapes that way naturally, but when the air sac is ruptured new air is introduced faster than the excess air can escape. Your chick is better, but if you understand why you'll be better able to decide when intervention might be necessary if you see the same problem with another chick in the future.
