Could be infected feather follicle cysts?

From the reading I was doing this is what I was thinking.

But as the other user said its very strange for them to be in the same spot on both legs

Possibly he has been over preening that same area on both legs..

There are no feathers on the legs of Muscovy. All I see on the back of my drakes legs are the harden area where the knee joint is I’ll try and get a pic. Your talking about the legs right?

For lack of a better description as my duck anatomy is not the best, it's right at the top of his leg, basically where a humans inner thigh / groin would be.

Okay I was zeroing in on the legs I see and Cr maybe right it could be something to do with the feather follicles when you can wrap him in a towel and turn his butt away from you so no accidents happen and really examine this area? Get some better pics. Soaks can help with inflammation not sure what else you can do if that is what it is. @casportpony may know.

I'll do that again in the morning, give him another soak in an Epsom bath to just calm him down and hopefully take away some of the pain again.

So say hypothetically these are cysts.

How does one go about lancing them?



And moreover from that, if they aren't cysts, and I go lancing them surely that'll cause a lot more issues provided they aren't already potentially life threatening to him already?

Honestly I wouldn't try myself, if a vet is an option that would be the best route.

I was hoping @casportpony would take a look since she has so much more knowledge about bird problems. I'll try to get her attention.

Thanks for all the help, I'll keep up the warm Epsom baths and I'll message our call-out vet, we need him to pay a visit for our dog anyway! I know he deals with chickens so high chance he knows ducks too.
