It only works the one way.

If you look closer at those males you'll see they're calling them golden not gold.
Golden is some times used for males that carry both gold and silver.
Silver is dominate over gold so at hatch a "golden" male will look the same as a silver. Hence why the sex link won't work.
Those males almost always end up having the gold gene bleed through to turn them a yellowish color but that doesn't show for several weeks and by then it's easy to sex them by combs etc.
