This is my first time having a Silver Laced Wyandott. It is the same age as my other chicks but its tail feathers are INSANELY long compared to everyone else's! Is this just a breed trait? Does it mean something? Its 4 weeks old.

I noticed in some of my pullet chicks are various breeds I could tell based on how they’re tails grew in as a good indicator. They were long but in a U shape with the middle feathers being the shortest and the outer feathers being longer. The males would be the reverse. Not true for every bird but something I observed.

Silver laced birds tend to be easy to sex.
The males are a lot whiter and this should show up soon in your bird if it is a male.
the wing, saddle and hackle feathers will be very white if you have a boy there.

So far it is a bit young for me to say male or female.

Would this way of sexing work for a Silver Laced Polish?
