Pullet or Roo?

I am absolutely, positively, sure in my heart of hearts that bird is a female. There is no ambiguity at all. She's just not as mature as her flock mate is all. No male characteristics there whatsoever.

I have two 6-8 week old chicks that are still not fully feathered. The younger one is a Cochin female, the other is an "I am not sure what purebred" cockerel. I was somewhat worried about their slow feathering so started searching for answers. I found an article on slow feathering and it seems as though there is a "slow feathering" gene. I am not sure I can find the article again on the internet, but that could be the reason they are like that. All of my other chicks...and there were 40 that age...have already feathered out and these still have no feathers on their backs and their wing feathers are or still short although slowly growing out.

I think I'm going to have to agree. Sadly I was looking forward to a rooster. Oh well. Any name suggestions? I used to call her Boris but now since its a lady I don't wanna call her Boris lol!

How about Doris. Its similar and will be an easy name transition for you.

I had a Margo that turned out to be a Marco instead.
