Pullet swallowed a foot of paracord.

Did you feel if it was coiled up at all in the crop?
-Because crop surgery isn’t terribly difficult and there are some great you tube videos, one which has been posted here on BYC numerous times.

Working in an animal emergency clinic taught me some interesting approaches to dilemmas.
One older vet I worked with was a big believer in “Vaseline sandwiches” when an animal had eaten something sharp or dangerous and was either too old for anesthesia or the owners absolutely couldn’t afford surgery.
Two ingredients.
Squishy white bread and a jar of Vaseline.

Flatten the bread slices somewhat with your hands.
Spread on the Vaseline thick
Top with the other slice of bread just like a sandwich. Tear it into chunks. Most Dogs seem to love it.
The theory: the fresh white bread would wad up around and push whatever was sharp or stuck and the Vaseline would slide it along.

It worked amazingly well but was disgusting to clean up.

Since chickens (I’ve read) are not really supposed to have petroleum products, I’d be tempted to try this with softened solid coconut oil.
Thanks for the Vaseline sandwich information, a lot of us have dogs too & that is good to know!

Well, she's still with us, and still curious about far too much. Her rate of food consumption has spiked up a lot in the past few days - maybe she's getting ready for a growth spurt.

I've noticed a crinkling sound (kind of like a muted cellophane) from inside her in the intestinal area/ towards back end, but otherwise she seems fine.
