As you know I've seen some interesting objects in the digestive tract, but string/cord is not one I have seen yet, though @KsKingBee had one swallow a piece of string that had one end get wrapped around the base of the tongue.

As for treating something like this, I'm not sure what I would do. I

Yep, string got wrapped around the tongue and pulled it down her throat. It eventually cut the tongue off and the vet euthanized her.
