Definitely a cockerel. RIR pullets don't have such large, red combs at this age.

Okay, looks like majority votes cockerel on my Nehji. Here is another pic with my two other RIR. Nehji is the one to the far right. Does this change your votes or confirm them?

I am hoping for a pullet but if "she" turns out to be a "he" we are still keeping our Lil bird. We have treated all three of our RIR as pets and have no restrictions on our land so roos are okay. But we do have some mixed flock chicks that are 2-3wks that i am pretty sure contain a few cockerels. I am thinking at least 8 of the total i have are pullets so will have to give away or cull some if more than 1 cockerel. Thank you all for your impression of the sex of our mystery bird and I will update as she/he grows older.

Well, if she is and RIR, then pic one would be the right color and I would say hen. My avitar is a RIR hen, large bird, large comb.
So in this pic of the 3, the one with it's butt to the camera is hen and the other two may be cockerels.

I got them from a local feed & seed store and there were about 50 chicks in a brooder together. The sales associate told me they were all RIR. They hatch their own eggs at that F&S store. I have a pic of them as chicks. Nehji is the darkest chick in the pic.

It will be interesting to see what she/he turns into

Well, I can't see the one in the back well enough, but the one in the middle looks like RIR. RIR's are a mahogany red. They have no gold or other red color, definitely no white feathers. Idk what the other is in your pic.

Looks like my RIR pullet 8 weeks old, pink comb similar size. Cockerel combs would be a lot larger.

Oh, don't know if this helps any, but Nehji's comb is pink only on the base (fleshy widest part) with yellow tips.
