No. My DW makes pumpkin soup. Whatever is left the hens finish off. After Halloween they can't give them away so I get a bunch and they last a few weeks.
This will be these kids first pumpkin, even the 2016 birds have never seen one.
Not for lack of trying, iv'e just procrastinated too long and there were no pumpkins, last year there was a shortage kid you not.
We have one this year, orange and glorious!
Probably going to have some chicken heart attacks since even tasty newness is viewed with utter horror.

That's how it normally is with my girls too. However, it must be the smell or something. I put a small pumpkin out there for them to try and they dug right in! It's their first exposure. Who can know the mind of a chicken?
I buy a whole pumpkin, smash it in the yard, and tbe girls devower it all, they just leave the outter skin. But, since we are on the subject of pumpkins and chickens, might I ask if anyone actually gives pumpkin to their chickens as a treat? I have too much pumpkin in the garden, but was thinking the seeds are too big for them and the meat too firm.
ETA: chickens in place of chicks.
Just the image of that made me laugh out loud!! Wish I could have seen that @Chickassan! What breed?? Please tell me Polish!!
