I've read in similar circumstances you don't want to let the wound dry out so applying triple antibiotic without pain relief or honey to the wound will help it stay moist. Assuming you cleaned it with Hibiclens or saline solution to remove any dirt or debris? You'll want to watch for signs of infection so the ointment will help with that. Ensure there is no pain relief in the triple antibiotic / neosporin ointment as that is toxic to chickens.

Thank you. I'm using triple antibiotic ointment and bag balm for the wound. There's no bleeding but it's still just best to me to keep her inside and not let it get infected.

Cheeks is healing up nicely. I changed her dressing because I have to keep the flies out and of course I know how bad a sore of any kind itches like insanely. I'm still just not letting her back out until I have more confidence in her being safe.

Thanks for the update. I'm not sure you need to wrap it. I think generally the wounds are left uncovered unless it's in a location where they can access it and peck at it. Continue to keep the antibiotic cream on it. Happy she is feeling better.

It's only being covered because of the flies. I don't want to have her getting fly strike. There's a lot of flies because of the livestock around here.

We had a hound/heeler--she'd round them up, then chase them. We introduced her to each chick (and bunny), telling her "nniiice". She accepted each as a member of our 'pack.'

Now might be a good time to dog/bird bond, having them both share your time together. (And, yes, he will sniff her butt--kinda creepy, but hilarious) He needs to learn mom's fluffballs are not toys and must be treated gently. Also, do NOT give him toys that are furry or squeeky--his tiny doggy brain won't be able to differentiate.

So Cheeks was really going stir crazy in the house so I put her outside but I decided to put her in with the crew and then I stayed out with them for a while but they were still attacking her so I turned the hose on and everytime one of them would go attack her I would spray them

Do you have a dog crate that you can put her in inside the coop or even in the run? It would allow her to reintegrate without them being able to harm her

I have one but I don't have any way of getting it in the run. Right now it's kinda raining so I will try to figure out something tomorrow. I just have to hope she's okay for the night

I brought Cheeks back inside because the other girls were pecking her back so she's inside until she's completely healed
