Puppy may be poisoned!!! HELP PLEASE!!!!

Quote:
We didn't know how much she got into until my mom checked the other poison tray an hour before I started the thread. We knew she had eaten ONE OR TWO pellets, cause they watched her do that and removed the bait tray, but there was another bait tray in the bedroom that everyone forgot about.

So you're telling me that we just sit back and wait? We don't try to give her anything that may help clot her blood???

The pup is fine, RedHen.....She's still acting like a puppy!!! Thanks for asking!!!

WOW. I will never use rat poison. I will trap them. My animals are just too precious to me to have this happen. Just another lesson ofr us all that think that poison is the easy way to rid ourselves of a predator or pest.

The only way to use poison is to use the commercial traps that cost a whole bunch and usually the average person can not get them.

yup..thats why i dont use it..its way to scary to have around the house!..use mouse traps..those sonic things..whatever!..but if you have pets DONT use rat posion!....

My mom doesn't have any dogs in her house, so wasn't expecting this. They stayed the night at her house the other night, and yesterday morning while everyone was asleep would have been when the dog ate the poison. I have two dogs, and the poison I have out is very well out of the way, I don't want to risk this happening to my dogs.

i used to use it also..then one day one of my cats caught and half ate a mouse...and i was like OMG!..what if that mouse ate some posion!..now my cats will be posioned!..(he wasnt thankfully)...and since then i realised how dangerous that stuff is...they dont even have to "get into" it..they could get ahold of an animal that had ingested it....scary stuff!....i just stick with the sonic things and those traps that the mouse crawls inside and it kills them somehow in there...

I used to use it in very safe locations - we don't have cats and the dogs couldn't get into the basement - then a squirrel got into it and died and we had a PLAGUE of flies as that thing decomposed. It was *horrendous*, just like a horror movie. It's nasty stuff. I prefer the Ratzapper now.

I hope everything comes out well for the pup...for future reference...

Keep a bottle of Ipecac syrup around the house at all times. It is made specifically to induce vomitting in case of ingestion of poisons in children. I have used it on a full grown german shepard and it worked great.

The sooner you can get it to them to better but it is handy to have around.

Christina, how is the pup now? Where you able to find out anything from poison control or from anything from the company that makes the poison? If it was caught right after the act we could of induced vomtiting and the pup would have fared better. I have been sleeping but I can do some more research. Please don't worry about calling me no matter how how late it is or not when there is an emergency like this. I just wish I could have done more. If you do get someone on the phone that might have info don't let then blow you off, keep pushing for answers. Be pushy yourself. Also get through to dhlunicorn, she may have some info to help you guys. Tell your brother to not blame himself, even though he doesn't have the money for a vet stuff happens especially around the holidays when routetines {sp}change. The pup has made it this long, I think it has a good chance. Give me a call if anything changes and we will figure out what to do.
