I finally hatched out some of my own pure black australorp chicks. But I put them under my blue australorp broody hen. I originally bought some pure black australorp eggs about 12 months ago now. I only ended up with one black hen and one black rooster and a blue rooster. I sold the blue rooster. So any way my own australorp eggs from my black hen I have about 8 chicks and couple australorp crosses. And I've got more black australorp eggs in my incubator with some of my own first year RIR hens that have also just started laying.the RIR will be pure also.i have 2 Rhode roosters in with 5 Rhode hens. I also put in about 14 australorp cross eggs. There's about 16 pure black australorp eggs and about 7 Rhode eggs. There in my janoel 48 incubator on day 3 now. See how it goes.so no more buying fertile eggs.instead I'll be selling young pure breed pullets for a decent price.

I'm keeping each breed separate hence why I said there going to be pure. There's only one white with black speckles in the pen with the pure black and blue australorps.and she's an australorp cross. But i know what her eggs look like.compared to my pure black australorp hens eggs. This is my pure black hens first year laying. But also. I know what pure black australorp chicks look like when they hatch. And I've only got pure RIR in one pen. So yeah.

Cool. Australorps are really good layers and great for dual purpose I love them. Best of luck with them.
