Purina chick starter very powdery

Just wondering if it is safe to feed them the food? it is more like powder than crumbles

Is it expired? If it's not, maybe you could mix it with a little water to make a mash. So it doesn't go to waste.

Interesting because my most recent bag of purina Flock raiser is very powdery as well - not the typical crumbles.

I have gotten a couple of their Non-medicated Start & Grow in 25# bags that were powdery last summer.
When I got chicks in August I bought a couple of Medicated 50# bags and they were way less powdery. GC

I had a 50# bag of layena pellets the same way had about 5 # of dust in it.

I also use the medicated, and the last of the bag can be powdery. Maybe you got the end of the production run. You can always contact them...

My Non-medicated feed was less than a month old and powdery. Like Hobbits Mommie said it may have been the end of production run (bottom of the barrel). As long as it's fresh, and dosen't have a strong or moldy smell it's probably Okay to feed. I let my feeders get nearly empty monthly and clean. I use the powder at the bottom of the feeder or bag, by wetting to make a mash. My girls love it. . GC

That's normal. Shipping can cause crumbles and pellets to break apart. GC
