My buff Orpington is about 6 months old. She suffered from a prolapse in January 22. We have got it all fixed up now, her vents been closed since Sunday.

She still has a few concerning symptoms though. Her comb has been changing from red to purple for the past couple days. Her left wing has been drooping slightly as well, it looks like she’s lopsided. Her poop is very watery and white so her vent. She also has been twitching her head, mainly when we are bathing/drying her.

She was eating normally until yesterday. She’s started being very picky about what she eats, mainly eating lots of greens and avoiding her regular food. She defiantly has an appetite though because she’s scratching around in her crate and pecking.

She only drinks her water if theis nothing in it. We have tried putting nutri-drench or apple cider vinegar in her water and she hardly touches it.

Behavior wise she has been acting very normal. She’s curious, talkative, when we let her out of the crate she moves around and explores the house.

Yesterday I though something may be wrong with her crop. I’m not so sure today, this morning I felt her crop and it was very small and a little lumpy. From what I’ve read that is normal? It wasn’t hard or big at all.

I’m just wondering if anyone has any idea what her symptoms could mean. I would really appreciate any help.

I’ve attached a few photos to help better explain.

I'm sorry she isn't well.
Purple is not good.

Do you have other birds? When was the last time you brought a new to you bird home?

What exactly do you feed her on a regular basis?
I'm wondering if you feed treats daily or often?

Can you try to mix her regular complete balanced feed with a little bit of water to make it oatmeal-like to see if she will eat that?

I have 11 other chickens the last time I brought new chickens home was her and her 5 sisters back in august. We have been feeding her scratch and peck feed mixed with water since we brought her in 2 Fridays ago. We have also been feeding her cooked egg, oatmeal, yogurt, as well as some different greens. She seems very interested in the oatmeal, egg and greens, but not so much anything else.

Can you buy a crumble or pelleted feed in your area? I highly recommend you switch to one asap to help prevent future problems that can happen from not eating a balanced diet.
Stop all treats.

I will defiantly be looking into switching her feed. I have a bag of Hen Up starter grower crumbles, would this be a good thing to be feeding her?

The problem with whole grain feeds are it gives the bird the option on which grain the want to eat.
Say they only like to eat the red grains.
They always only pick out the red one.
They will not be getting a complete balanced diet.
They will be lacking in something... This lacking in something can cause issues.
Especially if they are not eating the calcium containing grain.

Okay, Thank you very much for your help. Do you think all of her symptoms could be related to not getting a balanced diet?

The way her comb is turning purple makes me think she has a minor lack of oxygen, but i have no idea why. Her wanting greens then would make sense b/c greens are full of chlorophyll which is chock-full of oxygen booster. Poor baby!
