Purple eggs??

This is so interesting to me. I am quite the novice, and am just now sitting with my first batch of eggs to be hatched any day. I have 6 hens and 1 rooster (which I don't know exactly WHAT breed he is, or a two of my girls~that's for another thread). I recieved them as a gift from a friend of a friend, which said they were fancy breeds.

I absolutetly ADORE colored eggs. Right now, I just have the brown, pink and cream colors. I am strongly desiring to broaded my chicken numbers with colorful layers.

I did read a post on here when I joined that in the UK the Langshan's laid a dark plum colored egg. I wish I could get some purple eggs. I do have one hen that lays a light pink egg she is a barnyard mix but her eggs are large and pink. I was wondering if you took a hatchery Marans which do not lay as dark brown eggs as a breeder marans (what I have read) and breed with a really blue egg layer if then you could get the purple egg????

Is this the purplish colored egg ya'll are after? The browner parts are where the albumen ran off of it. Taken in natural lighting outside, no flash.

Last fall I took some pics inside with a flash of 4 olive eggs on a yellow towel I got from an EE hen. This is what I got when I looked at the pics. They are actually a greenish brown color in natural light. Thought it was interesting.
