PUT MY EGGS IN LOCKDOWN THIS MORNING. ANYONE ELSE DOING THE HATCH COUNTDOWN?

Good Morning BYCers. I have one zipping and 7 more wigglers. This is my very first bator hatch and like all newbies I'm nervous. I haven't slept a full night since lock-down on April 1. I devoured every forum that related to hatching and felt pretty confident when I bought my first set of eggs. Now I'm seconded guessing myself. I foaled out mares for years and honestly I think this is more nerve wracking because unfortunately you can't help too much or call the vet out if you think something is going wrong. Hubby asked if I wanted to go out to dinner last night, my response "ARE YOU KIDDING!!" What if the babies need me. He just smiled and walked out of the den. Bless his heart. I'm hopeless. Anyways, I hope everyone has a blessed day and happy hatching to those of you who are.

I know what you mean about being nervous and that almost helpless feeling. You just wait! Drives me crazy but so worth it then they come. My wife's folks live about 2 hour drive from where we live and she wanted to go to her mom's this past weekend for a visit. I told her I had eggs going in lockdown this weekend and maybe some hatching. I didnt want to leave! Are you kidding me?? Needless to say she wasn't too concerned but we didn't leave. Lol!

Congrats on your 1st bator hatch sounds like you have done well so far. I purchased a dozen black copper maran eggs and the lady sent me 15. This is my 2nd attempt with shipped eggs. The 1st time I got 0 out of 12. This time I told myself I'd be happy to get 40 or 50% hatch rate.

Came home and after I was home for about 30 minutes I got a pip, then about 15 minutes later another pip. I had to leave to take my daughter to an appointment, they waited for me again 5 minutes after i got home one hatched then about 30 minutes later the other hatched. I have two more with nothing going on yet. Then I have 8 silver penciled brahma's that are a day behind so they should be doing something in the next couple days.

Thank you for the words of encouragement bwalden. I'm happy and very proud to announce that the first pipper (a lavender orpington) has sprung free and is up & creating all kinds of chaos in the incubator. I think it is trying to hurry it's brood up. Certainly making enough noise to wake them for sure. I see 2 more pip holes and lots of wiggling so Im very hopeful. These were shipped eggs and as fate would have it I only have 1/2 of what I purchased in the bator. Keeping my fingers crossed they all survive.
