Is the "new place" also in Sperryville, Virginia? Is it NEAR your present home?
(That would make moving much easier.)

just curious,

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Boy that smiley just says it all. SO nice to hear of some great news... got word this morning that bad news (via the pink slip axe) is going around the local schools so I was kinda bummed... this definitely helps. Thanks so much for sharing.

I wouldn't be much concerned about the SILOS in the short-run. You've got plenty of other things to work on for a while.
You can keep the SILOS in the "back-of-your-mind" and perhaps use them for something very useful in the future.
(I just would NOT demolish them or take them down, etc. You may later wish you had them. Anyway...they add a certain "charm" to the looks of the place.)

The COOP looks like an "easy-fix" . After cleaning it (in whatever manner you choose), it would be easiest to just use an electric paint sprayer to re-paint it. Something like a Wagner Power-painter. Harbor Freight.com has a cheap one for sale. You could later paint trim with a brush. The coop looks like it could use some new roofing. Rolled roofing is the cheapest, quickest option.

Lots to do...Lots to "think about".

It's a NICE LOOKING place !!!

GLAD you were able to get it. HAVE FUN with it....Don't make it a "chore". Make it a "JOY" !!!

Be SURE to plant a GARDEN...Your chickens will provide plenty of fertilizer !!! (for a Compost Pile)

HEY !!! Maybe you could come up with a good way to use a SILO for Compost !!!

GOOD LUCK !!!

It's original metal roofing. I'll be either fixing it if it needs it or replacing with metal roofing. Trying to stick with the original, also, will be adding real working custom shutters in time.
The front yard has a picket fence, little backyard has chain link. The back will be for the dogs to go in/out w/o me needing to worry about the chickens. Their coop is behind the fence and has it's own chain link yard. I'm thinking of putting in a veggie garden in the front yard, since dogs will never be there and chickens won't either, too close to the road. Gonna add a row of various fruit trees in the back.
Keeping the silos, they are very cool. There used to be a big horse barn, but the past owners tore it down for unknown reasons, ugh.
Sanding, fixing and painting the clapboard will be a pain. Oh, it's all a pain really, but gives me TONS of projects to keep me busy, finally!

There ain't no better FUN than working on your own place...if ya got a little bit of help and a little bit of money to use. MUCH can be done "on-the-cheap" with excellent results.

It makes you FEEL GOOD when you create/ re-create something NICE !!!

Have a GOOD TIME at it ! Make it FUN !
