Putting eggs in the bator on July 25, does anyone wanna hatch along???

no what is lockdown????
On day 19 you are not suppose to open the incubator anymore. You no longer open it to turn the eggs. Also you elevate the humidity a little at this time. I can't tell you what to elevate the humidity to because, I am still trying to figure out the humidity thing myself.

Goodluck,

I'm sure dandydoodle is already typing a response, but "lockdown" is the last three days of the hatch, during which you really really REALLY do not want to open the incubator until all the eggs are hatched and the little floppy new baby chicks are all fluffy and dry. This can take 48 hours or more after the start of hatch, going by the first pip. Most people say wait till day 24 if you have unhatched eggs, just to be on the safe side :) So in other words, day 18 -- lockdown. No opening the incubator for anything!!!
HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So is it day 18? I think I might be having a brain toot and I was thinking 19 days. Oh cool, that means I might go into lockdown on Sunday not Monday.

Yeah, I've been having "interesting" conversations with my rooster, dandydoodle! His replacement is already on order...

My roo's been a bit of a pain since day one. Every so often he has to rush me and try to flog me. He's gotten me a time or two with his spurs. I'm bummed because he's really good with the hens, *very* fertile, and very handsome. But I hate having to have eyes in the back of my head whenever I'm around him!

Sorry. Yeh, I got one like that and I am always having to keep an eye out for him cause, he is always looking for his chance to get me. I can't get rid of him though cause, I would break my kids hearts. He was born almost blind but, he can make out shadows so he knows how to find me. All the other roosters get better once I teach them I am the boss but, I just don't think this guy will get better because, I think he might also have some screws loose. He is beautiful though.

If you really like that rooster have you did the things you are suppose to do to teach him your the boss not him. If you haven't I can tell you how to do that. I have three other roos and they all treat me with respect. I just can't teach the one cause, I think he isn't sure every time go in if its really me or not so he goes into attack mode. Also I just think he has a few screws loose. He was born with a vitamin deficiency and it caused him a lot of problems.

Oh Im not using a incubator I have used one three first time I hatched 2 chicks 2nd I hatched 1 and third time I hatched a duck but It wasnt strong anough so it died sadly. Clucktail gave you a good answer about the shell. If you have other eggs in a bator I would leave well enough alone. Before you go cutting it off what is it hooked too?

Is lockdown day 18? If it is we go into lockdown on Sunday.

Okay I am starting to have nightmares about the humidity and temp. going wrong. I think when this happens it is time for the little buggers to come out. I dreamed when I went to check on them there was a pool of water and the temp was 142 and it was boiling.
