Sorry about your little egg that broke.

I don't think a .5 temp change will make a difference. I could be wrong but, I wouldn't worry about it. If you aren't in lock down just yet I would put a little star on the eggs with a small air sac with a pencil so you can see if they hatch or not. It will be a learning experience and I know you like to learn. Even if they don't hatch if they have veins I wouldn't throw them out anyway, in the future I would still leave an egg that looks like that in all the way through hatch.

I tell you I think I have learned one very important thing this hatch and that is to always check you water at least every day. Accidentally having your humidity bottom out at about day four is a very bad thing. I lost 10 eggs in the beginning and I think at least half were due to the humidity drop. I know you like to learn so I thought I would share the knowledge I learned this hatch.

Warm thoughts for your eggies too.

Oh no! That's such a bummer, dandydoodle. Yeah, humidity (or lack thereof) has been the least of my concerns -- ambient humidity has yet to drop below 50%, which may be part of the reason for the small air sacs in two (actually, but the third egg I'm almost certain is alive and kicking.) One of them has definitely quit, I'm 90% certain -- the dark mass just seems to slosh around and reettle as I move the egg. The other one I'm not so sure about although, unlike the ones that are clearly live, the majority of the dark seems to be settled right against the air mass, and doesn't look to have the same "texture" as the others. I won't be surprised if it's a dud, too. Oddly enough, they're both barred rock eggs. Every one of the larger white rock eggs is a'boppin' and a'rockin' (well, except for the one I broke

) I might have to repeat the experiment with better controls this time, and see if the white rock eggs do have a better hatch rate than the barred!

Thanks for the tip on the humidity! I was keeping an eye on it, but if anything my problem's in the opposite direction.
