Putting eggs in the bator on July 25, does anyone wanna hatch along???

Hee! I knew it

On the upside, though, tomorrow is your kids' first day back at school -- which means you can nap!

True but, I have a feeling I will be starring at pips tomorrow.

Well, the ambient humidity in the house (and outside) has been varying between 52 to 78!!! percent. (The 78% was during that enormous thunderstorm.... we needed the rain horribly, so I'm not complainin'!) Usually sitting around 60-65%. So I'm definitely not doing dry incubation this time

I don't own a dehumidifier, so don't really have any way to get the humidity down, although by and large it hasn't been too hideously high. High enough that I could understand if it affected evaporation from the eggs, tho.

OMG, Aschenfire, they're beautiful! I can't believe how big -- well, okay, grow up -- they look already!!! One more thing that's gonna be interesting is learning how quick a chicken grows. I love your tricolor boy, he's downright handsome (and looks like he knows it, hee!)
Thanks :D I love them! I think they mature quicker than other breeds. The little pullets will start laying around 14-15 weeks, and the cockerels start getting little combs within a week or two.

The tricolor boy (Dali) has always been such a snuggler, too. They all love to be held and petted, but he prefers to sit on me to anything else. I make the BESTEST roost, apparently

Hee! See, you only thought you knew what your purpose in life was...

I'm hoping my babies will be friendlier than the ones I've got now -- they're not bad, at this point, none of them are horribly skittish or anything, or at least they've learned nothing bad happens and this particular pair of legs often comes with treats... lol! But certainly none of them would even think of using me as a roost, or letting me snuggle them. I'm not entirely sure that's a bad thing, though -- there's something about snuggling your supper that just strikes me as, well, wrong

(Yes, I love owning chickens, yes I enjoy them thoroughly, yes I plan on eating a bunch of them eventually. Heartless, I know!)
