Putting eggs in the bator on July 25, does anyone wanna hatch along???

13 have hatched and the other 5 have pip, the first one pip was a white legger and it still has not hatched 24 hours after pip. Still left to hatch 3 white leggers,1 Brama and 1 Jersey. Come on chicky baby you can do it! Ok I got to get the brooder ready so it is warm and toasty for the transfer. Good luck to all. I have enjoyed this thread a lot.

Whee!!! It's getting crowded in there, Ranny! I love it -- they're all asleep on each other like puppies :)

My tiny one is in there chriping away, and had a small external pip. The breeder suggested that the super little ones sometimes will need help hatching, and I lost two Seramas in eggs last hatch after they pipped (one actually pipped, one internally pipped but that was it)...so I chipped part way around the egg and put it back in the bator. Hopefully baby will do the rest today while I am at work. It is peeping right now... peep peep peep! I figure as long as it can breathe, it'll be ok.

Congrats, Ranny! And yeah, I've always thought they look like puppies sleeping, even when they are older and lay in a pile.

I have to say, the hatching eggs tutorial in the learning center is wholly inadequate, in my book. It sure doesn't touch on much by way of potential problems, or what to do!

I wanna hear peeps!!!!

Okay, gotta go check on the ones out in the barn :) I have to say, that's one thing I like about chickens, they're not horribly demanding! When they have free access to their run and can let themselves out in the morning, it's fine if I don't toddle out there till 10 or so to check on their feed and water :) (I always check it at night, too, to make sure they've got plenty to carry them through.)

sorry so far i guess only me on here.I am new at this too but have had this problem..If it were me and its been many hours like over 12 i would pick the egg up see if he moves and then if he seems alive then use a wet rag take him out onto a table KEEPING MeMBRANE DAMP AS YOU GOt and with a tweezer and very slowly pick the shell only not membrane off in a narrow circle around the egg like a chick zips so he has it easier to break thru.If you see any blood at all stop and wrap his egg with a very wet rag leaving his beak out and put him back in.Also once you have the shelk chipped off same wrap in a wet rag loosly put him back to finish the job. These directions are on the learning center for assiisted hatch
GOOD LUCK

This is basically what I would suggest, though be careful about *how* wet you make those rags or paper towels. You don't want to drown anyone in the egg, but you want to keep the membrane soft enough for baby to snip thru :D

(And I am off to work... hate to leave now. Gonna keep thinking of this tiny little one all day)

I got a pair of tweezers and pulled back the tiniest part of membrane. He's gone for sure.
******, now what do I tell the girls? I'm considering getting a chick from the feed store and pretending nothing happened.
