Putting eggs in the bator on July 25, does anyone wanna hatch along???

I have a silver laced Wyandotte!!!

My mom came to pick us up from the hospital, she took a picture of the small hole in my egg prior to leaving the house. When we got home, I had a new baby chick sitting in the bator. Because I have been gone for 2 days, there was no water in the bator so I took my chances and opened it. Retrieved the SLW and filled the water trays. Checked the polish and no holes yet so I think it was alright that I opened for a sec. (it was probably less than 30 seconds I had the bator open and it only registered a drop in humidity from 60% to 56% or so. So I think it's ok)

Now we're waiting for the polish to hatch. I hope he does. I thought the smaller eggs hatched earlier so I'm a bit concerned but today is day 21 and it's not over so.....

Roxannemc- I have the brand new wyandotte in with a week old silkie and they are doing fine. From my internet searchs (and I'm not an expert by any means) there is no pecking order at this age so a few days difference is not an issue as long as the new chicks aren't exceptionally smaller than the first set because they risk getting trampled or squished.
Funny thing is the wyandotte is almost the same size as the silkie!! ROFL.

Whee on the wyandotte!!! That's so wonderful :) Congrats on both your hatches :)

Yeah, I would've thought smaller eggs would hatch sooner too, but maybe not? And if it's only day 21 I wouldn't be worried.

Day 20 for me and I have a peeper! Teeny little "chirp chirp chirp"s coming from one egg, yay!!! No external pips yet, though. I don't know how long it usually takes from internal pip to external pip, but she's only been cheeping for an hour or so, so I'm sure not worried yet!

WOW More excitiment! a new baby chick to meet you. I imagine born the day of your baby!
Thank for the reply .Helps
i had tried a weeker chick adew days ago with my others and boy....they came at him like a gang and surrounded him.

I will try this guy right away see what happens as hes about the size of my youngest orps.... 4 of them.. maybe it will work in case he doesnt get a sib.

Two more are still working on hatching but so far a americana egg has hatched and one more americana egg is working on hatching and then a random brown egg is!!!

All these new baby pictures are making me soooo jealous. Went on lock down yesterday. Glanced at incubator tonight and thought I saw an egg wiggle. Then spent almost two hours off and on going cross eyed staring at them, but pretty sure it must have been my imagination. I have another egg that I think has a small pip but the quail eggs are so small it is hard to tell. They are not due until Sunday but hoping for an early hatch :)

YAY!!! My little peeper finally pipped! I was starting to get -- well, not worried yet... concerned. My hens were clearly suffering from a calcium deficiency when I first got them which, being the health food nut I am, I promptly cured, with the result that you can now "clack" their eggs together fairly firmly without fear of them breaking. The shells are easily twice the thickness of store-bought eggs probably more, so I was beginning to wonder if I was going to have to help out. So far nope! Not a big pip, and I can't "see" a hole, just the outraised crack, but I'm assuming it's enough for air to get in.

Two of the other ones are clearly squirming, but I don't think anyone else has internally pipped yet. Will report back in later!
