Putting eggs in the bator on July 25, does anyone wanna hatch along???

LOL! That's a good way to go about it. I'm just hoping all mine on Monday are pretty obvious -- at least now I'll know what the speckled sussex looks like!

Little baby beard-muffs -- too cute!
Yep, I was a little overwhelmed at first it looked like a sea of yellow puff balls.

That poor chick. What are your options now? Do you think he can be nursed to health or not? That is one of my biggest fears. I don't know if I would be able to end it for a chick.
My baby hatch went before my chicks did. 8lbs, 15oz. 16in head. Arms wrapped around his head by the cord, twice. Medication didn't work so it was completely natural, 12 hour labor. I had to write it down because even *I* can't believe it. I get to go home in the morning and hopefully watch my chickies hatch. My husband placed bets on time and my dad has to do all the dishes for 2 weeks.
Wicked awesome day!
Congrats on the baby!!!!!! I don't think there are any options, I think there must be more wrong with it then just the leg. I have had babies with legs problems before and he just seems so much sicker.

bUT Maybe there is hope?
my one guy that was assisted the last hatch has a leg laying all the way across his stomach instead of where it should be.. wouldnt go straight i read on some site you can use a splint on a lot of things if you do it in the first few days and it can work. Later not so much.
HE was the same... flopped aroUnd b/c of only one leg under him but he is in a splint with a bar across his legs to hold them apart and to keep that leg on the right side of his body with a cotton ball in the center to hold them apart stuffed like a pillow by his tummy. .He isnt happy at all and i have to finger feed H im as he cant walk just sit alone but he does have 2 feet under him now.Article said it can be sometimes just a couple days up to a week and they are fine
Check it every 2 days.and let it breath.rewrap again.
Dont know for sure how it will do but i am really hopeful.Right now he is in my hand tweetering away .dont know if he is twittering bad or good twitters but he is here and not sitting alone.Id put a pic up tried...but once again my batteries are out uhhh. There bones are so soft right now maybe the can be reformed to work?
I wish it was that simple for this little guy but, I don't think it is. I have had babies being born with legs being crooked and some with slipped tendons. Unfortunately I think there is more wrong with this guy then just the membrane was wrapped around his leg. I had unwrapped the membrane and was feeding him sugar water, I was hoping maybe he was just tired from such a hard birth and that after some rest he would perk up. The little one never got off his back. He seems so much sicker then any baby I have hatched out before. I was just gonna let him go and then I read this and thought it couldn't hurt to do the band aids and chick chair. I did that yesterday but, this morning he isn't even alert. He is still alive but, isn't responding anymore. There has to be something more wrong with him. I am not even sure if his leg is hurt or if that was okay after I took the membrane off. I think it is something else that is preventing from being able to stand up. Well since he is no longer responsive and seems to be having trouble breathing I have decided to help him move on. I just turned off the heat so hopefully he gets a chill and passes on a little quicker. It breaks my hurt to do this but, I guess it is worse to prolong his suffering. Honestly I think if I did nothing he would still be gone by this afternoon, I know there is no way he can possibly make it. So I want it to be as quick and painless as possible.

Congrats on your little though, sounds as if he or she will be just fine.

Oh so sorry ...that is too bad .Maybe his heart or something.Sounds l ike he is going anyway
.Bad part about hatch is these little sickies.I hoped not to have any ..I hope mines leg gets better .HE just flops around if he doesnt have the brace on but has to sit when he does.
Last night it took me an hour honestly to get something rigged up on him .The other tape came off. I have tried 4 kinds.. goes bad once it hits the 90 degree room.Iwas literally sweating swaet globs tying to get that on those wiggle little legs alone.GD in asleep.
He Cant walk but ate by himself this morning I have a milk bottle cap in there with food right in front of him Fed him on my hand and then put the cap by him,.he ate!!so that part is good since istill have to feed spoiled Pepper and i have a bunch of dogs and a cat all wanting food when i get up.
In fact THEY get ME upo 6;20 on the dot every day of the year unless i get to go to my sons or daughter on a weekend trip ...only time i can sleep in...How do they know?Like having a baby!
Oh also let the big chickens out. cant forget them.... so a busy 1/2 hours at first to get them all settled. then GD to the school bus.Thje peace...Oh peace...busy... forgot to turn the other dang eggs...!!

Wonder if tis guy can go in with my last LO's
They are 3 days old now.??anybody know...?

I have a silver laced Wyandotte!!!

My mom came to pick us up from the hospital, she took a picture of the small hole in my egg prior to leaving the house. When we got home, I had a new baby chick sitting in the bator. Because I have been gone for 2 days, there was no water in the bator so I took my chances and opened it. Retrieved the SLW and filled the water trays. Checked the polish and no holes yet so I think it was alright that I opened for a sec. (it was probably less than 30 seconds I had the bator open and it only registered a drop in humidity from 60% to 56% or so. So I think it's ok)

Now we're waiting for the polish to hatch. I hope he does. I thought the smaller eggs hatched earlier so I'm a bit concerned but today is day 21 and it's not over so.....

Roxannemc- I have the brand new wyandotte in with a week old silkie and they are doing fine. From my internet searchs (and I'm not an expert by any means) there is no pecking order at this age so a few days difference is not an issue as long as the new chicks aren't exceptionally smaller than the first set because they risk getting trampled or squished.
Funny thing is the wyandotte is almost the same size as the silkie!! ROFL.

Oh, she's so pretty! I love the silvery -- that's really nice! And I should think it'd be fine where they're that close in age :)

Sorry, I've had a busy day -- lots of garden work and company coming tonight!
