putting them in the LG tomorrow want to join me?

Good and bad news from Missouri tonight.... My fourth egg shows spidering. The bad news... I got home from work to discover my electric out in my bedroom/ bathroom. Of course i raced for the bator. 76 degrees... so what made just the electric go off in my bedroom? My grandson God love him, came over while I was at work to pick the boat up to have an engine put into it. he plugged up a compressor though i do not know why. this must have overloaded that circut. I cried for an hour now. bator is back up to 99.5. I dont know whats going to happen to myhatch rate. anyone have an idea?
I dont have the heart to tell my Grandson. Iknow him and he would be horrified. I love him more than I love my chickens though. I am just so disappointed.... you just dont know

here is another question for you Lisa. Number 4 was definately fertile looks like 4 day old fertile. I have a 5th egg lated day before yesterday that i was going to eat, but I didnt. if 1 2 and 3 were not fertile 4 is fertile, is it likely 5 is also fertile. to be more graphic,, if a rooster...... a chicken, how many of the following eggs will be fertile? or does the chicken have to ..... the hen every egg?

Hi,
I do have an idea..............

\\
I read an artical here on BYC concerning temp drops.
Wish I had saved it. Basically it said a drop like you had is probably O.K.
Problems arrise from the up and down..up and down................
It advised to simply let the temp rise slowly...........not to set it real high and then try to adjust..........
and that the eggs should be fine......really..................
Also have read tons of others experince on here and they did O.K.
Have faith...............
Also, I know what you mean about these grandchildren.......I am sure he would feel horrible.
Good Luck,
Toni

Donna! Yeah for fertile eggs. Boo for bad temps

Sorry about that. I agree though, I have read lots of times especially early on in the setting when temps fluctuate or have a drop for a time. Basically it will just delay your hatch by that many hours from my understanding. Lets just hope for the best. And yes, egg 5 will be fertile too. The hen can hold the sperm for up to I think 7 days and one mating would fertilize more than just one egg. Good luck!

Okay Miss Lisa your expertise is requested! So last night I was smelling something a little off in the bator and since it is in my room, it is quite obvious.

Anyway, I looked and didn't see anything that was leaking etc. so I went to bed thinking maybe it wasn't the bator I don't know . . . anyway, this morning no, it is definitely the bator. I went to put in a fresh sponge for humidity and the smell overwhelmed me. So, I took all four eggs I thought were clear out. No problems there. They are clear and I threw them out. Next I started picking up each egg from the turner. I get to one and it has stuck slightly on the turner. I got it off without breaking it and it was the offender! I candled it and it was full and black other than the air sac so I knew it was gross as they should not be full and black yet! Anyway I put it in a sealed ziploc and tossed it in the garbage and then pulled the egg cup from the turner out and cleaned off the turner (not really dirty, but was trying to get the smell out). No, my question is has this egg ruined my hatch? Will the bacteria or whatever was in the bad egg get into the rest of my eggs and kill them? I candled a few while I was messing with all the other stuff and saw movement etc., so they are fine as of now, but . . . I don't want to lose all my eggs! What has been your experience with a situation like this? I know you will give me the straight answer . . . I just hope it is one I like

I just pulled 7 eggs, no movement last night and none today. I have not opened them yet.

I also have not told my grandson, but maybe in a few weeks when I can talk about it better.
I am mostly upset because 3 of the ones i pulled were my white slikie eggs? i watched them for a long time before i pulled them. it made me cry because i really do want some white silkies. I still have one with movement though so maybe i will get to have even one silkie. Autumn I put maya and her husband in a cage of their own, and they are now underneath my bator beside my bed. Molly and Murray are also on their own now. did you read the post where the gal put the egg in her bra and went to work and it started chirping haha that was so cool it was posted today.

Here is my photo that i took of egg number 4 which did spider, but no bobbing yet.

can you use 10 percent bleach solution? maybe just wipe that one tray? I do not know i think you would have to air it well before closing it back up if you did that, maybe Lisa will be on later and can answer this I want to know too!!!

Donna, I did read the boob chicken story today! What a riot! I laughed everytime there was a new update and enjoyed your posts as well. Too funny! I am hoping all is well with my remaining 12 eggs. It is amazing to me how quickly the bator emptys! I started with 18, now down to 12. I am hoping to get 8 or so . . . pullets

that isn't too much to ask is it?

Just kidding, but I would like to get some to hatch to add to my laying flock for the fall and winter! We shall see I guess! Hope Maya is enjoying her private moments and that you continue to get loads of fertilized eggs!

awww autumn poor dear girl. my bator is way down after i pulled i think it was 7 eggs. I gave them 2 days after Alex accidently tripped the breaker to my bedroom/bathroom while I was at work. I opened the eggs up because I wanted to see development. 6 of the eggs I opened revealed a tiny little chicken with 2 great big eyes. because I numbered every egg and kept records on every candling I know that the previous day the eggs were doing good. the 7th egg i didnt open because it was Mayas 3rd egg which i left in the bator just a lil longer to make sure it was not fert. maya has given me 7 eggs total thus far 4 of which are in the bator, one of which spidered and i think survived my grandsons accident, because on the day of the accident there was the red spidering, yesterday it revealed the black dot so it has developed further

:ya:yiipchick:celebrate ....... Ihope to see more development tomorrow .

that bra posting was funny until i gave my advise on keeping the EGG hole moist. I turned beet red when i saw the posting after mine. how can anyone interpret anything other than an egg for goodness sake. Did you see where the chickie made it and is now under the Mommy!!!!

I would buy that lil chickie if she was going to sell it!!!

Geeze naatke, I am really sorry about your eggs..
Were they from your own chickens or purchased?
If they were purchased, I would be happy to send some to you for just shipping.
My girls are laying well..
Partly just wanted to check in.
The Seramas are new for me..............and I just love them.
So far I find mine very curious, calm and just fun.
I have them in the house so I spend a good amount of time watching them.
I will practice with this thread and try to get pictures up.
I followed the egg in the bra also and laughed so loud that my DH came ove to read it himself...........
He said now he understands why I love BYC so much.
The weather broke enough that we were able to work in the barn the better part of the day.(yesterday)
How blessed we are......I had long conversations with the girls and I can tell you.It was the best conversations I had all day.
For sure we agree on poltics and spirituality.
One of our old BR girls, Sweetie, jumped on my DH's lap and fell flat asleep....He did not want to bother her so he just sat there. The next time I looked, his eyes were closed and his chin down on his chest..... WHERE WAS MY CAMERA...

Enough sillyness, hope all is well with your hatching.
