PVC pipe feeder

It's been done! Works fine, no problems as of yet. A 6 foot long one may have issues with the food reaching the end? I did use two down tubes, it may help and hold twice the feed, but 6' is a reach?

In use!

monk, how did you attach that to the wall? i am construction challenged i've learned and could bring this up to dh, but he's ready to eat my birds, sooo.... also what are you guys using to cut the pipe? would a drill work if i have the right bit?

I used a keyhole type system, makes for easy remove for cleaning or adjustment. BTW, the portion of pipe with hole is not glued to replace or rotate. The right size of drill bit will do it, a door knob/lock set drill bit works well for the larger holes though.

How about 4 feet long? What is the longest you would recommend? Would it be better if I made a "U" shape, like you did; rather than a long "L" shape (as I originally planned).

Here is the situation: I have a long 8 foot wall that I had wanted to put the feeder against. Would it be better to do something else instead? I guess I could make a long skinny box like feeder, hooked onto the wall, with a lip for the feed (and of course a lid). I think I saw one kinda like this somewhere on this site, made out of steel.

I am thinking if it is against the wall there would be less waste??

I would play with it, just don't glue the pipe with the holes in it. If not glued you can take it off, make the necessary adjustments, shortening the length, rotate the position of the holes or change its configuration, etc...
Even if the "U" shape doesn't work out for you, you would be all set for two "L" shape feeders!

Nadine, what do you have over your feeder? I need something on mine that might help keep poop out and maybe leaves when they fall. and how did you put it on there?
do you have a close up picture? Thanks I appreciate it.

Been using our PVC feeder for a few weeks now..

I would make sure that you can angle the open feeder part more downward then I did.
I find that I have to put my hand in and pull the food towards the end.
