At one of the outdoor arenas where we ride, there is 6" PVC pipe along the entire top edge of the perimeter chainlink (very comfy for spectators to lean on while watching!). It was just split down the center and pushed onto the fence, then wired every now and then. It has been there for years and horses quite often bump into it, sometimes really hard, and it isn't brittle at all. Kids climb on it, some people mount their horses from it, it's just really held up well. So maybe there are different grades of PVC pipe?
I sure like the looks of that run made with PVC, very tidy looking and clean, finished edges. I might try something like that!
