Pyncheon chickens. Anyone else have any?

She has very white legs, so not right. And her comb is floppy right now, but since she is only 6 mos old, that may correct itself in time.

and she has got me interested in the breed! If anyone who has them sees any eggs or chicks for sale of nice stock, please let me know! I would love to try breeding them!

Usually most birds that are of the Mille Fleur variety....get more white as they age....your pullet will not have a better color pattern when she matures....she is probably at her "best' for color right now....I have raised this color in five breeds for over 30 yrs. .....and female Pyncheons are SUPPOSED to have the back half of their combs lop....but NOT in the males....I hope this helps?

Yes it does! That describes her comb pretty well! The back half kinda lops forward so it looks a little folded up, like an accordian almost but the front is upright.

She is missing a lot of the black in her color, still I like her anyway. She will likely get more white though. I am finding that a lot of mine that start out with nice color lose it until they are almost mottled. She looks a bit larger and heavier than mine do.

She's pretty small. She's my smallest bantam, not much bigger than my friend's Seramas.

Good size then...... I would rather have poor spangling in the feather pattern than too much white....and that is VERY common in some Pyncheon strains being bred today. Type comes first...and then breed for color....excess white is a pain to get rid of.

Do you sell hatching eggs, Pyncheon Guy? Or know anyone who does? I have my last batch for this year in the incubator now, but I would love to get more Pyncheons in the spring! My kids absolutely love Priscilla (that's her name.) And guests even point her out to tell me she is the cutest chicken they have ever seen! I would love to breed them and have a whole flock of tiny pompadours (that's what we called her until we were sure of sex) running around.
