I wonder if they're working on the Mille fleur pattern? My hen is way too light, even at her age. I believe they tend to lighten up a little with each molt but whenever they start out with a lot of white, they lighten up too fast.
I've read about different mille fleurs, like silver, and another I've forgotten. The hen in the one picture I just posted, did very well at show, so maybe Pyncheon mille fleur is different?

Fun! Would you post pictures?
This is the pair I retained. I believe they best met the Pyncheon SOP from all the chicks I got from Privett. I rehomed my other pair about a month ago. They were all housed together, so I’m waiting til May 1 to collect eggs and see what they produce.

I did hatch a trio that I’m growing out from before, to see how they mature.

They look perfect! Ten times better than my best. You're a good judge.

They’re supposed to be Mille Fleur colored.
From what I’ve read, they should have less coloring as youngsters as the mille fleur pattern increases with age. If they’ve got too much color up front, by 3 yrs, they’re almost white. This hen had the brightest chestnut with the least speckling.

My other Roo’s comb was too big, flopped over and got frostbite. It drove me crazy.

I’m loving this pair I retained.

@LisaMP because you're such a good judge of Pyncheons, hows this roo? I think he's my best.View attachment 3078546View attachment 3078550View attachment 3078551
He’s got nice lines, I like the comb, lol. Ive git a thing about combs. SOP says the hens can have a comb that has waves, but the Roos should be upright
I think ideally he’d have less black on his chest, but we all have to start somewhere with what we have.

Privett seems to be the only hatchery that actually breeds them. Stromberg and Welps carries them, BUT they’re actually drop shipped from Privetts. So they’re basically the only game in town.

I’ve wondered if chicks bought in different orders/different times might have different genetics. Based in how some hens lay and some rest at different times during the season. To try to get some more diversity.

Which one do you like best? I think the one to the far right. The one in the center has alot of black and to big a comb, and the one on the left is to light.

From what I see, they all have minimal speckling which is great. Far right is my Fav. Far left is lighter, but pretty correct. The middle’s comb is a bit big, but not a lot of white in the patterning. Nice!
