In the big picture, it's useful to have your birds acculturated to a sound associated with food. For mine, it's me tapping my knuckle on the bottom of the old tin plate they get wheat on.

Your adventure this time was easy. The hard ones are if the birds are panicked, and there is noise/stupid people. You can get them out of somewhere with the plate-tapping.

Not emus pictures (though I will get new ones of those as soon as it stops raining every day, ugh) but I wanted to show off my newest additions. I bought a very nice blue wheaten ko shamo stag and a pullet to go with him.

I took this picture to illustrate what is called the "five hills" in this breed, which you definitely want your birds to have. Wing tip, muscle where the wing connects, base of the neck, wing base muscle, other wing tip.

Yes, I'll show him But blue wheaten is not an accepted color yet so he can't really place. The bare spot is caused by their extreme hard feathering.

I love their personalities. They are friendly, outgoing little spitfires. Never back down from a challenge. They're little birds with Napoleon syndrome.

Little as in they're bantams The stag was hatched in March, the pullet in June.

Ahhh...cause those are usually pretty 'tall' birds,

Yep, they're tall little guys. This guy is actually a tad too tall; he's about 16 inches, a little more when he's stretched up.

Emu pictures! For some reason the lighting kept washing Desi's color out, he's not really quite that light brown.

I was trying to put down some grass seed in the hopes that I could get some grass to grow in their run, which the birds have turned into a mud put (likely a futile attempt) and Ciara decided she liked the grass seed, so she kept following me around the entire time trying to eat grass seed out of my hand. I did end up giving her a couple bites, of course
