Are you letting her run around with chickens and other birds? Trying to decide if I could do this in my chicken area in a week or so but not sure if the chickens would harass the emu or if the emu would have issues with my electric fence when so small..

I did take C out the other day. Here she is running around.

I have been patiently waiting for this Hatchi Wan Kenobi. She is quick and cute. I think if she was mine I'd name her "Can Can' for those show-girl legs.

I sent off eggshell for my little baby. Been trying to figure out how to keep him or her - we do have plenty of room, but with just one emu it's not fair to the poor thing - we'd spend tons of cash to fence in an area and the poor thing would be so lonely.. If only my other egg had hatched or there was someone local selling sexed babies but all we have around here are alpaca and cows.

I'll let the potential adopters know what the gender turns out to be =) s/he is so cute, spent like an hour in my hubby's lap this morning..

I think I'm gonna name the baby Ciara It's an Irish name and is pronounced kee-ra, and she really likes it and responds whenever I call it out. And it's a C name, of course!

Actually we looked at the preexisting fencing in our 'back field'/forest and it's ALMOST good enough, maybe 5' tall welded wire. Never looked at it that carefully before. It may be possible to reinforce to make taller? Still pondering.
