Pyxis' Emu Chat Thread

Its hard to see all the differences from that view. Is there much difference in size? Are you sending shells for gender test?

C is a bit bigger than B :) Yep, I sent the eggshells off yesterday! With luck I'll know the gender by Friday.

Are blondes seen in the wild?

Not that I know of. I think they originated in captivity. That's not to say some couldn't hatch in the wild, but their coloration wouldn't lend to good camouflage as chicks, so they'd probably be picked off easily by predators :(

More questions!:lau What is the capacity of your emu barn? and How many species do you keep?- I've been wanting to know the ans to this for awhile!

Lol! So, plans for these two little ones include keeping them separate during breeding time if they are a pair, so I'd be building them their own separate barn. Since the emus only sleep in there, my current barn could easily hold four at nighttime but I wouldn't want more than that to try to cram in there :p

I have emus, chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons, and my friend sent me turkey eggs so in like three weeks, turkeys. Lol.

I thought you had reptiles too, or I'm confused?
