Pyxis inspired me and I'm attempting Emu eggs!

Update for week 5! I am in the Outter Banks in vacation but this is the update I am getting from my friend. All the eggs are doing great in their weight loss. V1 has been a bit behind but is slowly catching up. Hoping it catches up a bit faster tho as it's still behind by quite a bit. Lost 10g this week and has to be at 12. We built a hatchter so may move it in there with low humidity and see if it can start losing some serious weight. We will see. Gonna check for wiggles later so will keep y'all updated.

Just a bit of idle curiosity here, but what do the initials for the eggs mean? Like the "V" and the "G"?

G1 and G2 came from Georgia. V1 came from Virgina. The egg shells will be sent to a lab to DNA sex the babies so we know what we have and so we can keep track of the two related from Georgia so they don't interbreed in a couple years.

The initials make sense now, thanks for explaining!

I know good legs are are critical for emus. I wonder if in their younger days into teenagers , if some kind of leg wrapping, like people do with race horses, would prevent some injuries etc.
