I’m hoping someone out there has some advice for me about my duck Quackers.

She has changed from an affectionate duck to a duck who tries to bite me. She used to let me pick her up or pet her, always happy to see me, usually wanting in the house to see what I’m doing.

She was egg bound 2 months ago, and has since started a slight molt. I thought it was because I had to eye dropper stuff into her mouth and she didn’t feel good. I know they can be sensitive during a molt.

She’s a year and a half, lives with her hubby Cheese, and seems fine in every other way.

Any advice? I really miss her cute antics.

Poultry can become agressive or exhibit unusual behaviors during molt because molting can be stressful for a bird. After molting, she should return to her normal behavior. You can try supplementing her diet with a little more protein to help her grow her new feathers better.

For now, you could try offering some yummy treats and plenty of attention and see if she stops the agressive behavior towards you. Quackers still likes you, molting is just stressful.

Molting can be uncomfortable and some birds gets very moody. A friend told me to think of it like a daughter who just became a teen and realized you're not cool anymore. UNTIL you're holding the keys to the car!! Hahaha So, she's molting and it's nothing personal. She's just like, nah I don't think so UNLESS you can FIX this feeling. She'll come back around

I was reading this aloud to my DH while we were driving home and out of nowhere he said, “If the duck’s attitude doesn’t change, then she needs to serve Cheese and Quackers on a platter at her next cocktail party.” I just died laughing! :lau
