I recently got 3 white coturnix quail. I put them all in there cage and noticed that one of them wasn't running around like the rest, he was just sitting there and wasn't moving a whole lot. I picked him up and noticed that he had some of those little poop balls stuck to the tips of his toes. None of the other ones had this, but i did see this on some of my baby turkeys a while back, but i guess on the turkeys the poo hadn't hardend to the extent that the quails did, becuz i could just peel the poop off the turkeys, but when i tried this with the quail it ripped off the poop but also a little bit of skin at the tip of the toe! And it seemed to be bleeding alot. So i went into the house and grabed some flour to help clot the blood. I then left him alone for a few hours, and when i came back there was quite a bit of blood in his bedding and the cut was still bleeding! So I floured him again, but by that time he couldn't even hold his head up
He died shortly after that.. I didn't know just a little cut could bleed a quail to death. I guess you can never be to careful.
